Recently I have began a campaign of sorts, asking for books to be donated to our Red Tent library. These books will serve to not only further my understanding of facilitating women’s groups, but also “ministering” to teens and girls and furthering my understanding of women’s issues from a perspective that is not my own; but hopefully also serve to inform and enrich other women who are interested in borrowing them. These books will be comprising a library for every woman who enters into the doors of Red Tent West Michigan, even if/when someone else takes it over. In whatever form that is.
I started an amazon wish list, however I am also welcoming books that are not on that list, and not from amazon. If you feel called to donate books, they can be sent to 1885 Manz st. Muskegon Mi. 49442.
On this wishlist are also documentaries that I feel will be of a great addition to our library, and we also welcome those.
So far we have had three books donated, and my intention is to write a book review for each book that is donated. This not only helps me be motivated to read carefully but to investigate and understand the material that I am reading. I will be sharing the book reviews here so that 1) I feel accountable for it and therefore no matter what I have going on, I will continue to be focused on this work. 2) It will inform all of you who read this blog. 3) It will show that I am dedicated to healing not only my own traumas, but facilitating groups that heal and nourish other women in whatever capacity I am lead by spirit to fulfill.
The first three books that we have had donated are:
1: The White Umbrella by Mary Frances Bowley
2: This is Woman’s Work: Calling Forth Your Inner Council of Wise, Brave, Crazy, Rebellious, Loving, Luminous Selves by Dominique Christina
3: The Power of Timing: Living in Harmony with Natural and Lunar Cycles by Johanna Paungger
I am so very grateful for all of the strong women that I have had the blessing of having show up in my life, not only as a young girl, but as a woman as well. To those of you who have been those women, I hope that you know how very inspirational and beneficial you have been to me, my growth, and lighting that fire in my heart. My hope is that I can pay it forward, and be that woman for another.
