I have not been as active on here or with much of anything for that matter for quite some time, and there is a reason for that. As some of you know my health has been declining over the last couple of years, and there has been some trouble with finding a diagnosis. This spring, amongst a myriad of other symptoms, I began losing sight in my right eye. After seeing my eye doctor, and being rushed into CT Scans, MRI's, blood work, and a Lumbar Puncture, it was determined that I have IIH. Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, also known as pseudo-tumor cerebri. This basically means that I have too much fluid on the brain that mimics having a tumor, with no known cause. This disorder affects about 2 in every 100,000 people, so there isn't a lot of information about what causes it, what it is doing to the body, or how to treat it. All treatments were designed for other illnesses, and are pretty much best guesses, which means that efficacy and side effects vary from person to person. In my quest for help, relief and ultimately a cure I have found a few things that help me. Diet, hydration, balancing rest and activity as my body allows, supplements, Cranial Sacral Therapy, and Arvigo Massage. I am so excited to share with you about the Arvigo Massage!
I am so blessed to know so many amazing women through my experience with Red Tent. One of those women is a part of a Collective of healing women in Grand Haven Michigan, Engage Wellness Collective. Malea Nicolet is an Arvigo Massage Practitioner, and offered her services to me in the hopes of helping me find some relief, and I am so glad that she did. She was not only able to help me physically, but spiritually and energetically as well, and the healing began the moment I made the commitment.
July 27th 2017 - Malea contacts me, and wants to work on me, offering me one the greatest gifts I have been blessed to receive. I have to admit I was hesitant at first and had some guilt about it, but quickly worked through that, and accepted the deep honor.
July 28th-29th 2017 - I am blessed with an undeniable message of healing from spirit in the form of a dream. I dreamed about a woman who I see as a great teacher, healer, and leader. A Medicine Woman. I was at her place, but it was more adobe, grass roof, hut like. She was my teacher and I was living with her and working for her in order to learn. She asked me to go get something from "inside" but it was a hut. I walked to the doorway, which was covered in orb weaver webs all the way around like on the floor and the ceiling. They were old, grey, and dusty. On the other side I could see that the room was completely dark with no way to see what was in there. As I stood there mentally talking myself into doing it, she came to me and said "Are you afraid?" And I said Yes, I am going to do it anyway, just steeling myself for it." And she said "Remember they are old and no longer useful to the spider. They are no threat to you. Fear is not necessary." And I stood there looking at them, decided to just do it, took a deep breath, and woke up.
This dream means so much, and the symbolism of Grandmother spider was not lost on me. In fact, she showed up at the first Arvigo appointment in the plants for the lustral water, and at the 2nd appointment by showing up as a gorgeous orb weaver making her web right outside the window.
Aug. 1st 2017 - My first appointment with Malea. She asked me all kinds of questions about my history, and my goals. I think she asked me more about what is going on with me holistically, than any doctor ever has. I loved how thorough, caring and knowledgeable she is. During our sessions I experienced the beginning of deep release, and a power re-awakening that I hadn't felt in a very long time. A warmth and an energy rose in my pelvis, and I felt like a great tiger had awakened.
Later that afternoon I curled up in my bed, listened to music and balled my eyes out. I released like I did during the Ayahuasca Ceremony. Hard. Followed by a very deep sleep. Later that night I had some nightmares that were also deeply cleansing and healing.
Aug 2nd 2017 - I began to notice more flexibility in my pelvis and a lot less pain in my body overall. But the most intriguing and surprising thing that I experienced was my inner tiger growing in strength and power. I not only was feeling more alive, but more centered, and more myself. I knew my own strength and my worth, and it was palpable to everyone around me.
I fluctuated between strength and release over the next several weeks, which was amplified by my 2nd appointment on the 19th and the total solar eclipse. I collected my menses at the next flow, and released my blood with ceremony, back to the Earth.
I felt more juicy and alive, and even my sex life with my husband, and alone began to improve as well. The changes in me have been affecting him as well. It's amazing how we affect the people around us energetically. When we heal, we better help affect the healing of others.
I will continue with the Arvigo therapy as a part of my healing journey, and I recommend this for women who are experiencing all kinds of dis-eases because this heals holistically.
"The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® are founded on the ancient Mayan technique of abdominal massage which is an external non-invasive manipulation that repositions internal organs that have shifted, thereby restricting the flow of blood, lymph, nerve and chi.Based on over thirty years of training and experience in massage, naprapathy, herbology, and spiritual healing, Dr. Rosita Arvigo developed these techniques which now bear her name. This modality incorporates a holistic approach to health care which includes massage, anatomy and physiology, herbology, nutrition, and emotional and spiritual healing. Dr. Arvigo believes that with any natural healing technique, these areas must be simultaneously addressed to promote optimal health.Dr. Arvigo learned these techniques from her mentor, Don Elijio Panti, the great Maya Shaman of Belize, Central America with whom she apprenticed for ten years. Don Elijio believed that a woman's center is her uterus. "If a woman's uterus is out of balance, so is she," he would say. Midwives and healers of Central America agree that most female troubles are caused by the wandering womb. Don Elijio passed away in 1996 at the age of 103. Rosita also studied with Hortence Robinson, a traditional midwife and herbalist of Belize who began delivering babies when she was only 13.The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® address position and health of the pelvic and abdominal organs. The work is best known for the correction of the prolapsed, fallen, or tilted uterus and for the prevention and treatment of benign prostate enlargement in men, and for relief of many common digestive disorders."
